An indigenous e-commerce platform is being developed by the government. It is being developed by the Government's Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). In this regard, a Steering Committee has been set up by the government, which will be known as Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The task of this committee will be the responsibility of taking an e-commerce company from a policy to implementing it. Also, a policy has to be prepared for e-commerce companies.

Who will be included in the committee?

The objective of this initiative of the government is to create an e-commerce business platform, which will be supported by the government. Senior DPIIT Officer has been elected as the Chairman of the Committee on Government E-Commerce Platforms. Also, the committee on government e-commerce platforms will include representatives of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Electronics, IT Ministry, Ministry of MSME, and NITI Aayog. Apart from this, Adil Jainulbhai, Chairman of Quality Council of India, Dilip Asbe, CEO of NPCI Technology, Suresh Seth, CEO of NSDL Technology will also be part of this committee. In addition, a representative of CAT (CAIT) will also be included for industry input. Let me tell you that CAT has been opposing foreign e-commerce companies for a long time.

Amazon and Flipkart will get a fierce competition

Amazon and Flipkart have a majority share in the Indian e-commerce market. But with the coming of the government e-commerce company, Amazon and Flipkart may get strong competition. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India campaign will be helped to move forward. PM Modi has launched the Vocal for Local and Self-Reliant India Campaign.
